Buffalo Technology DriveStation 2Share HD-CELU2
$120.00
Released April, 2009
The Pros:Simple to setup and use, easy enough for entry-level users. Switching between LAN and USB works flawlessly. Fanless design is almost silent, can just barely hear the heads moving.
The Cons:File transfers over the network are pretty slow. Some compatibility issues with Macs.
The Buffalo Technology DriveStation 2Share is an external HDD/NAS that connects to PCs by USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. It can either function as a directly-hooked external hard-drive, or instead be wedged into a network as a readily available Network-Attached Storage device.

Keep in mind though that the FlexNet—when connected via USB—only works with Microsoft PCs. Included with the unit is SecureLockWare, a 100% free security software that allows a user to encrypt either all or just a part-of the data on their HDD device; and also Memeo AutoBackup & Memo AutoSync, built for securely storing and tracking essential computer files. Note that the DriveStation Flex retails in five forms, from 500GB to 2TB.
Additional Information
If you need an external HDD that works directly with Mac computers, then consider the HD-CEIU2.
