The Buffalo Technology DriveStation Duo is a RAID unit featuring dual 7200RPM eSATA HDDs. The drives can either be employed separately (Full-Capacity Spanning Mode), or the user can setup a RAID-1 operation, in which content on drive A is mirrored onto drive B.

As for connectivity, the whole unit boasts dual USB 2.0 ports and a 4/6-pin IEEE1394a (FireWire) port. Once connected to a compatible PC, the drives are automatically detected—they come pre-formatted. Included also with the system is an easy-to-use Windows RAID Utility for quickly changing RAID modes. Note that the DriveStation Duo retails in two forms: the 1TB HD-W1.0TIU2/R1 and 2TB HD-W2.0TIU2/R1.
Additional Information
Included with the unit is SecureLockWare, a 100% free security software that allows a user to encrypt either all or just a part-of the data on their HDD device; and also Memeo AutoBackup & Memo AutoSync, built for securely storing and tracking essential computer files.
