The mini-USB port comes with a USB cable which is also used to power the device and it will also work with USB 2.0 and 1.1. The drive comes preformatted into two partitions, one which is a CD-ROM emulation containing the Clickfree Backup software that cannot be erased, and the other which is the usable partition for data storage and formatted with the NTFS file system. The Clickfree software partition can however be updated by connecting to the internet and subsequently written over with the latest software version. Mac users have the option of reformatting to the Mac OS, but the Clickfree software will not work with Mac computers so you would have to use another compatible backup program. Designed for non technically inclined users, when plugging into a computer the EasyRun program automatically starts which will enable you to backup the entire system as an image file. In the event of a system crash, you can restore everything to a previous state using the EasyFix program to recover the operating system, programs and personal files. Storage has been conveniently categorized into three categories: personal files, programs, and operating system, whereas other backup devices tended to group these together. This makes it possible when using the EasyRestore software to restore just the files you want, thereby skipping a lengthy and redundant restoration process of files you already have. Available in a portable version at either 500GB or 1TB and a desktop version at 1TB and 2TB. See below for manufacturer recommended pricing.
