Standard drive speed for the G-Drive is 7200 RPM and it comes in up to 1.5TB capacities. As usual, it comes Time Machine ready for Mac OS X users and can be used immediately upon connecting. Windows users require a third-party program to reformat the drive in order to run. Heat dissipation is provided by the aluminum heat sink enclosure which is a compact, brushed aluminum fanless design, complimenting the look of the Mac G4. A white LED is also located behind the logo on the front which flashes to indicate when the unit is in use. Up to 32MB RAM cache is also available with the standard being 16MB. As for the name change, the company has decided to call it just G-Drive now instead, the Q means 'Quad' which represents the four connection types(eSATA, Firewire 800/400 and USB).
