Product Shot 1 The Pros:Preformatted for Mac OS X computers. 2 Firewire 800 ports as well as 3Gbit eSATA and USB 2.0(included cable for using Firewire 400). RAID 0 and RAID 1 switchable.

The Cons:Slight noise from cooling fan. The fan starts to spin on high speed after a while, and won´t stop spinning even after I have ejected the icon from Desktop.

The G-Tech G-RAID mini is an external hard drive made with RAID 0 and RAID 1 switchable technology. Using the drive in RAID 0 mode, or 'performance' mode, means that the two drives inside the unit are recognized by the computer as one drive.

This enables the use of the entire drive and also gives the fastest performance. RAID 1, or 'safe' mode, splits the two drives up and records data in duplicate on both, halving the maximum usable space but backing up important data as it is recorded. The G-RAID Mini sports the usual 'quad' of connection options including 3Gbit eSATA, two Firewire 800 ports(Firewire 400 adapter cable included)and USB 2.0. The unit uses an internal cooling fan, and is also constructed of light weight aluminum which also acts as a heat sink. Drive speed is 5400 or 7200 RPM and a RAM cache of 8 MB per drive is standard; 16MB per drive is optional. Comes with all necessary cables including an AC adapter and a leather travel case. Like all of the G-Drives, it has been preformatted for Mac OS X which means it is plug and play. Windows XP and Vista users will need to format the drive first before using it.
