Hitachi LifeStudio Mobile Plus

The Hitachi LifeStudio Mobile Plus is the most portable model of external hard drive in the LifeStudio line. It uses a 5400rpm laptop-sized (2.5") portable hard drive as its main storage. The drive has a cradle that it can sit in at it's main location, but it can be removed from the cradle for transportation.

The "Plus" adds a 4GB USB key that docks directly onto the LifeStudio drive and can automatically sync data for autonomous portability. Since this is a Hitachi LifeStudio drive, it has all the software bonuses of the LifeStudio line, including a 3D interface for browsing and locating files. The drive quickly scans its folders for media files and creates a library of files that can be viewed using a 3D wall powered by the Cooliris web browser plugin. Additionally the drive can automatically backup select folders or an entire drive, and backups can be scheduled, constant, or restored. The backup can be made to the LifeStudio drive, or into the cloud, as all LifeStudio drives come with free 2GB of online storage, or paid 250GB storage. All the software features require a Mac or PC.
