Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive
$160.00
Released June, 2007
The Pros:So stylish and compact!! Plug and play.
The Cons:No software built into the drive.
The Iomega eGo portable hard drive puts the marketing message in the name, aiming for a sleeker look for those with an ego. Iomega has encased the drive in a curved and glossy red finish. On the inside is a standard hard drive able to transfer files at the maximum USB speeds of 480Mb/s.

The drive is also powered entirely by the USB connection which means there is no need for a power cord and AC adapter. A power cable is included in the box for computers that can't transmit power over the USB connection (usually USB 1.1) or if you want to limit the draw on the computer itself such as the case with a laptop.
Iomega ships the drive preformatted in either FAT32 which is accessible on both Windows and Mac machines, or in a Mac specific format for better performance. This allows the drive to be connected and usable out of the box with no extra setup. The drive also comes with a license for software that performs automatic backups, though the software needs to be downloaded to be installed, it does not come on the drive itself.
