LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ Triple
$260.00
Released July, 2004
The Pros:File transfers through the Firewire ports are very quick in both directions. Auto-on/off saves a lot of power as well as wear and tear. Runs very quietly, can't hear it over the room's ambient noise.
The Cons:No power switch, feels a little dangerous to just unplug it when you're done. Included software seems buggy, may need to just reformat it through Windows.
The LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ Triple is a hefty professional desktop hard drive designed for speed, space, and universal connectivity. It has a built-in RAID 0 that helps amplifier the FireWire 800 speed, but reduces the data redundancy -- a bad thing in the case of a failure.

It has a metal design that can be stacked, put on a rackmount, or stand upright. The LaCie shortcut button is an additional features that allows any application to be launched with one push, great for presentations using slideshows etc. The triple interface allows FireWire devices or cameras to be chained, as well as giving flexibility and a greater degree of universal connectivity. The LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ Triple also has Triple Power management, a 32MB cache, a thermo-regulated progressive smart fan for sustainability and noise control, and the EMC Retrospect advanced backup and restoration software to make it easy to get started.
