The LaCie Rugged Hard Disk is designed for one, specific purpose -- to last. It is built with a scratch protected aluminum shell and surrounded by a shock-resistant rubber bumper that protects the hard drive from bumps and drops that would damage normal electronic equipment.

  Designed by Neil Poulton, the LaCie Rugged Hard Disk also offers speedy connection options, such as FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interfaces which allow it to connect to both Mac and PC computers.  It is plug and play, so it is ready to go right out of the box.  Good for on the go backup, the LaCie Rugged Hard Disk has a rotational speed of 5400, a cache of 8MB or greater, and an average seek time of up to 12 ms.
