LaCie SAFE Mobile Hard Drive with Encryption

The LaCie SAFE Mobile Hard Drive with Encryption is a 160GB drive with automatic hardware-based encryption and a fingerprint scanner. It uses DES or triple-DES encryption. Each hard drive has a unique encryption key based on a 24-character pass phrase stored on the circuit board, and the drive can register up to five users who have permission to access the onboard files.

The key is then linked to a password created by the drive administer. The SAFE can then link ten unique fingerprints to the five users, which it reads using the integrated fingerprint scanner. The drive is powered over USB and is Plug-n-Play.
