LaCie Starck Desktop Hard Drive
$120.00
Released October, 2009
The Pros:High quality build construction, solid metal and heavy. Fast initial formatting, less than two minutes. Stylish brushed metal aesthetic looks better than many other drives.
The Cons:Must install proprietary software to setup, initially. Does not have an internal fan to regulate temperature. Touch-sensitive front panel does not work with OS X.
The LaCie Starck Desktop Hard Drive is one of two chic hard drives (Desktop Hard Drive, Mobile Hard Drive) released in October 2009. Both units were designed by LaCie and designer Philippe Starck. In particular, the Desktop Hard Drive is more geared towards at-home use, at its heavy design isn’t optimal for portability.
