Maxtor BlackArmor

The Maxtor BlackArmor is a compact and portable external HDD designed for PC computers. It features a 5400RPM drive speed and an 8MB cache buffer for fast access to files, not to mention an easy-to-use USB 2.0 plug-and-play interface that powers the unit and ensures fast data transfer.

In addition, the BlackArmor external HDD includes hardware-based full-disc encryption that prohibits access without a password, no exceptions. In fact, Maxtor claims that “not even a professional data recovery service can access the data without the password.” The BlackArmor, however, does feature a KeyErase that permanently removes the encryption key for secure redeployment of the drive. The Maxtor BlackArmor retails in two separate models, including 160GB and 320GB. Prices range between $100 to $150. And it comes with a 5 year limited warranty and automatic backup scheduling software.
