SimpleTech SimpleDrive

The SimpleTech SimpleDrive is an external hard drive with USB 2.0 connectivity and is available in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities and five colors. Two design versions are in circulation with the newer one designed by Ferarri designers Pininfarina that features a large one-touch backup button on top that works in conjunction with the included software and has been upgraded to Turbo USB 2.0.

A scaled down version of this design is the Signature Mini which can fit in a coat pocket. Otherwise the basic attributes are the same including the Fabrik software which comes with both Local and Ultimate versions, the latter of which works with a free 2GB online backup account which can be upgraded to unlimited for less than five dollars a month. The programs can be configured in different ways to backup any file types from any locations all the while running in the background.

Preloaded on the drive is ArcSoft TotalMedia Backup software which can be installed to your hard drive from the folder. Mac users will need to reformat the drive with Apple’s Disk Utility before using it with Time Machine. These drives offer a good price per GB ratio as well as offering smaller capacity at reduced price.
