The USB 3.0 Storage POD is a 500GB external hard drive from Super Talent featuring the newest and fastest iteration of USB technology. Planned for release in January 2011 at under $100, the POD is a compact, sleekly designed device.

Weighing 200 grams and lacking an external power adapter, it is highly portable. USB 3.0 theoretically enables 10x higher data transfer speeds than USB 2.0, allowing users to store and retrieve files much faster. As mainstream notebook and desktop computers with USB 3.0 ports become common, products like the POD will multiply, but the 3.0 interface is fully backward-compatible, so the device will work with older systems as well, only at reduced speeds.
