This is being released alongside the Western Digital My Passport Studio, and offers a slimmer construction without extras like encryption or FireWire ports in order to keep the cost of the unit down. Construction of the shell is handled with lightweight plastic to make it as portable as possible, and the drive is powered directly through the USB 2.0 connection eliminating the need for a separate AC adapter. Users of Apple's Time Machine will be able to integrate the drive into the process, enabling an easy backup of their data that can be kept in a safe place.
