The Western Digital WD Elements Portable is a mid-grade external hard drive. It is designed specifically for portable, on the go use. Designed with a slim and compact body that is encompassed in a case made out of durable metal, it features 320GB, 250GB, 160GB, 120GB, or 80GB storage capacity, a 2mb cache and a 5400rpm spindle speed.

The WD Elements Portable hard drive comes with support for safe shutdown software which prevents the hard drive from being shut down while files are being transferred, energy efficient functionality that automatically turns the hard drive on and off with the connected computer, and plug and play storage functionality which means that it is compatible with all PC's and Mac's without any lengthy installation. Western Digital claims the Elements Portable hard drive is very reliable and was put through a rigorous series of tests to make sure the device is durable and in working order under many different conditions.
