The Western Digital WD Elements Portable is an external HDD made for use with laptops. This drive requires no power adapter, as it is powered by your laptop's USB 2.0 port (and there is a USB cable included).

The Elements Portable allows you to plug in and instantly be able to use it. A quick install guide is included. The maximum serial bus transfer rate is 480 Mb/s. Though this external HDD can be reformatted for use with Mac computers (Mac OS X Tiger or Leopard), it comes preformatted for PCs (Windows 7/Vista/XP). This HDD differs from the identically priced Elements Desktop model in that it is made for portable use (and so is more compact and lighter at 0.6" x 5.0" x 3.10", 0.44 pounds compared to the Desktop's 1.42" x 7.01" x 4.59", 2.24 pounds), and has lower drive capacity options than the Elements Desktop. The Western Digital WD Elements Portable comes in recyclable packaging made from recycled materials.
